The intensity of sound follows an inverse square law with respect to distance, so when the distance doubles, the intensity decreases to 1/4th of the original intensity (or decreases by 75%). In terms of decibels, which is a logarithmic measure, this corresponds to a decrease of 6 dB because every doubling or halving in power corresponds to a 3 dB change. Here, the power decreases by a factor of 4, which is 2 squared. So the decrease is 2*3 dB = 6 dB. Therefore, the answer is: 6.0 dB
