This occurs because the acceleration is directly proportional to the displacement and acts in the opposite direction. At maximum displacement, the object experiences the highest acceleration as it is furthest from the equilibrium position and is being pulled back towards it by the restoring force. As the object moves closer to the equilibrium position, the acceleration decreases until it reaches zero at the equilibrium point. On the other hand, the speed, kinetic energy, and frequency are not at a maximum when the object is at its maximum displacement.
